People who live in hurricane prone communities should know their vulnerability, and what actions should be taken to reduce the effects of these devastating storms.  The information they know in those areas can be used to save lives at work, home, while on the road, or on the water.

As people who do not live in a Hurricane prone area we don't have the normal mind thought to think of how to prepare for those types of emergencies, so in preparation that Hurricance Irene does affect us this coming weekend,  the membership of the Fairview Professional Firefighters, IAFF #2623 would like to offer the following websites for information you can use to prepare and safely get through the storm. 

The Federal Eemrgency Management Administration offers the following website with various information to prepare people for emergencies like a Hurricane, to be prepared go to: www.ready.gov for more information.  

In addition to the website mention above,  here is one on how to keep your Food Safe during and after an emergency, such as a flood, fire, national disaster, or the loss of power.    http://www.foodsafety.gov
