2/6/2010- POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- Fairview Firefighters responded to 5 EMS calls and 1 First Alarm Assignment during the night shift. 4 of the calls were overlapping incidents, meaning that firefighters were operating at one incident while new incidents were being dispatched.

Fairview Fire District Awarded $45K Grant

1/26/2010- POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- New York State announced today that Fairview Fire DIstrict has received a $45,000 Local Government Efficiency Grant to study mergers, consolidations, and other options for the district and neighboring departments. Local 2623 and the Fairview Fire District are committed to examing ways to address the tax situation while not compromising public safety. Firefighters Battle Dryer Fire in Shelter

12/31/2009- POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- At 10:35 Hrs, Fairview Firefighters were dispatched to a dryer fire in a local homeless shelter. Firefighters arrived to find the shelter charged with smoke, and an active fire in and around the dryer. Firefighters had the fire under control by 11:00. Investigation revealed that the fire was in a gas fed dryer. No injuries were reported at the scene. Fairview was assisted by City of Poughkeepsie Engine 2. All fire equipment was in service by 11:44.

Santa Visits Fairview- 12/19/2009

Santa Claus will be visiting homes in Fairview today, with the help of Local 2623 members allowing him to ride aboard Fairview Fire Engines. Santa will be handing out fire safety literature and candy canes to all children in Fairview today. While there is no set schedule, we are doing our best to ensure that all neighborhoods in the district receive a visit.

Welcome to our website. IAFF Local 2623 represents the 17 career firefighters and officers employed by the Fairview Fire District in Poughkeepsie, NY. The district covers approximately 4.5 square miles in the Towns of Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park, NY. Firefighters answer over 1500 alarms per year.
