| Firefighters Battle Dryer Fire in Shelter

12/31/2009- POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- At 10:35 Hrs, Fairview Firefighters were dispatched to a dryer fire in a local homeless shelter. Firefighters arrived to find the shelter charged with smoke, and an active fire in and around the dryer. Firefighters had the fire under control by 11:00. Investigation revealed that the fire was in a gas fed dryer. No injuries were reported at the scene. Fairview was assisted by City of Poughkeepsie Engine 2. All fire equipment was in service by 11:44.
